Jeff Kunin, MD is a distinguished radiologist with advanced training and deep expertise in thoracic and cardiovascular imaging. A graduate of the University of Texas Medical Branch, Dr. Kunin completed his radiology residency at the Medical College of Virginia and Henry Ford Hospital. He then completed a Body Imaging fellowship specializing in both thoracic and abdominal radiology at the University of Michigan Hospitals. His training laid a solid foundation for a career that has consistently combined clinical excellence with academic rigor.

With a specialized focus in thoracic radiology and as a member of the Society of Thoracic Radiology, Dr. Kunin has developed extensive clinical experience in interpreting complex imaging of the chest, lungs, and cardiovascular system. He is widely recognized for his proficiency in diagnosing a range of cardiopulmonary diseases using advanced imaging modalities, contributing significantly to improving patient care in both acute and chronic conditions. His clinical acumen is matched by his commitment to staying at the forefront of evolving imaging technologies.

An accomplished academic, Dr. Kunin has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in major radiology journals. His research interests have included a wide variety of thoracic topics including lung cancer and vascular anomalies in the chest. Dr. Kunin’s scholarly contributions have advanced the field and earned him recognition among peers as both a thought leader and dedicated investigator.

Dr. Kunin previouisly served as Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, where he developed a high-performing team of radiologists. In this role, he championed initiatives to enhance clinical quality, optimize workflow, and implement cutting-edge imaging technologies, positioning the department as a regional leader in radiologic care.

In addition to his clinical and academic pursuits, Dr. Kunin has also built a reputation as a trusted expert medical witness in complex legal cases involving thoracic imaging. He has provided consultation and courtroom testimony in numerous medical-legal cases, frequently appearing before juries to explain radiologic findings and their medical implications. His ability to clearly and accurately convey technical imaging details has made him a sought-after expert in litigation, where his testimony has been instrumental in supporting objective, medically sound conclusions. 

Currently, Dr. Kunin is a Professor of Radiology at the School of Medicine and the Chief of Cardiovascular Imaging in the Department of Radiology at the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he educates trainees and collaborates across disciplines to advance research and innovation in thoracic imaging. His leadership roles reflect his commitment to clinical excellence, academic advancement, and the strategic growth of thoracic radiology services at his current academic institution.
